Benjamin Franklin 1706 – 1790
Benjamin Franklin was an American colonial polymath, inventor, political philosopher, international statesman, and scientist. He invented the political cartoon, the lightning rod, and bifocals. His “Poor Richards Almanac” publication was published around the world, enabling farmers to raise successful crops. As a Founding Father of our nation, Franklin helped draft the Declaration of Independence, founded the University of Pennsylvania, and served as our first US Postmaster General.
